Councilors have postponed a decision on plans to build a holiday lodge complex on the outskirts of Glossop.

Members of the High Peak Borough Council’s Development Control Committee were due to decide on the application at their meeting on Monday afternoon (November 7).

However, Cllr President Bob Mckeown explained to interested parties who were present that the committee members wanted to visit the site before determining the request.

He said the members wanted to “walk through the fields” before making a decision “rather than just looking at photographs” of the site.

The revised application is for 12 luxury tourist lodges and a spa lodge and associated reception building, to be set up on a 1.1 hectare site at The Stables, The Heath.

Unique Holiday Stays Ltd says the development will help meet an ongoing need for accommodation for visitors and benefit the region.

Over 100 comments were received by council, raising objections on grounds of residential amenity, road safety, surface water management and flood risk.
