During the month of January 2022, the Smith Studio and Gallery in downtown Geneseo is sponsoring an exhibition of works of art by Craig Miller. This artist from Coal Valley, Illinois, exhibits beautiful photographs that capture, and sometimes recreate, the world around him. Plan to stop by the Smith Studio and Gallery in downtown Geneseo to view this magnificent exhibit. Bring the kids! It’s free and allows you to get a little glimpse of the wonderful works of art created in Geneseo and the Quad City area.

Craig Miller has been an amateur photographer for three decades. For a short time he explored his passion as an amateur photojournalist, then as a street photographer and still as a photographer to his family and friends. Three years ago, he attended a workshop in Seattle that inspired Craig to take his photography to a whole new level as an “art” photographer.

Craig Miller sometimes prints a photograph as it was taken, without any modification. On other occasions, he will change the photo, playing with his qualities in Photoshop to bring out the special strengths he sees in the image he has captured. These alterations may be slight in appearance or they may be drastic to the point of recreating the image.

The Smith Studio and Gallery’s hours of operation are Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday.
