Friday Night Freak-Out

2. Kick off your holiday weekend with a healthy dose of over-the-top horror/comedy at Friday Freak Out: Studio 666. The band Foo Fighters go horrific camp when efforts to overcome writer’s block on their new album lead to demonic possession. Get ready before you watch with the new drink from Abby Singer’s Bistro. Q&A with Neil Johnson

3. Get a glimpse of Saturday’s creativity through the camera lens as acclaimed local photographer Neil Johnson shares details of his latest exhibition. Opposites Abstract- the Lens of Neil Johnson, is a journey through his latest body of work. This Q&A with Neil is an opportunity to ask him questions of the sublime: “Does God speak to you in your work? to the banal “Which f-stop is best for bluish morning fog?” Learn from the artist! 4. You may have missed the opening reception, but no reason to miss the ongoing exhibits on the walls (and floor and pedestals) of artspace! Contemporary pieces by Parker Turner make up Breaching the Surface, while works by Julie Glass and Sherry Tamburo show you brazen spirit. South Pacific

5. It’s never a good time for the singing, dancing and general joy of Rodgers and Hammerstein. The incredible South Pacific ran on Broadway for 1,925 performances and for one night only, it will be at the grand Strand Theatre. It will most certainly be “Some Enchanted Evening” as you enjoy a piece that has been a hit since 1949! When: Thursday, April 21, 8 p.m. Where: The Strand Theatre, 619 Louisiana Ave. Cost: $25/$82.
